The city of Canby is known as the Garden Spot because of its history of wild strawberries as well as the famous Swan Island Dahlia Farm. Canby has over 12,000 people, and is located in Clackamas county south of Portland. There is also St. Josf's Wine Cellar, Canby's Grower's Market, Fir Point Produce, Canby's Saturday Market, and Hoffman's Dairy Garden which hosts quite a few farm festivals.
Other attractions of Canby is the newer Canby Ferry which transports passengers across the Willamette river over to Wilsonville. The ferry has been running since 1917 and although the ferry may be new, the prices are still quite reasonable: $.50 for motorcycles and $1.25 for cars and pickups. | Canby is quite family oriented with many parks, lots of wonderful events during the year, and Canby Kids Sports which focuses on children in grades K-8. They offer Softball, Baseball, Soccer, Volleyball, T-Ball, Football, and Wrestling. It is a non-profit, volunteer organization, which is funded by donations from local businesses, private parties, and sponsor fees. Due to thousands of volunteer hours from parents and community members, the program is quite a success. Canby is in the Canby School District. Canby is a small town within a larger community. With all that Canby has to offer as well as being so near to Oregon City, Wilsonville, and Portland only 20 miles south, there is something for everyone while still feeling like one is living in a quaint town from the past.
